Rajma Masala

Ingredients to make Rajma Masala

  • Rajma 1 cup
  • Oil 3 tbsp
  • Jeera 1 tsp
  • Black Cardamom 1
  • Green Cardamom 1
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Cloves 2
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Onion 1 ( big )
  • Tomato 3
  • Salt to taste
  • Deggi mirch 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 3 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp

How to make Rajma Masala

  1. Wash and soak the rajma overnight or 6-7 hours.
  2. Pressure cook the rajma for one whistle on a high flame after that on low flame for half an hour.
  3. Grind onion and tomato separately into a coarse paste .
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida, jeera and whole spices. Roast for a few seconds.
  5. Add ginger garlic, let it brown, add onion, cook till golden brown add tomato and masalas (salt, chilli etc).
  6. Cover the lid and cook till the oil separates, stir after every 4-5 minutes.
  7. Add boiled rajma, mix well and cook for 5-10 minutes. Garnish with onion and fresh coriander.
  8. Serve with rice and roti .
My Tip: Soak the rajma in hot water for one hour if you have not let it soak overnight.
