Whole urad and red kidney beans cooked with aromatic whole spices .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Whole urad dal 3/4 cup
  2. Red kidney beans 1/2 cup
  3. Salt to taste
  4. oil 2 tbsp
  5. Asafoetida 1 pinch
  6. Jeera 1 tsp
  7. Black Cardamom 1
  8. Green cardamom 2
  9. Cinnamon stick 1 inch
  10. Bay leaves 2
  11. Cloves 2
  12. Garlic paste 3/4 tsp
  13. Ginger Paste 1 Tsp
  14. Tomatoes 5-6 (puree )
  15. Deggi mirch 3 tsp
  16. Coriander pwd 2 tsp
  17. Amul butter 2 tbsp
  18. Kasuri methi 1 tsp
  19. Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  20. Cream 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak dals for overnight .
  2. Pressure cook with salt and water ( 4-5 cups) . one whistle on high flame , lower the flame for half an hour .
  3. Tadka: Heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida, jeera, whole spices and ginger garlic paste. Let it brown, add tomato puree, deggi mirch, coriander powder, cover the lid and cook till the oil separates. Add butter and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add this tadka and crushed kasuri methi in boiled dal and cook for 5 - 10 minutes.
  5. Add garam masala and cream, cook for 5 minutes, turn off the flame.
  6. Garnish with cream and serve with naan or chapati .
