Ingredients to make Shir Sewain

  • 1 cup vermicelli
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 cup crumbled khoya
  • Few raisins
  • Few Almonds + pistachios
  • Few cashew nuts
  • 1/2 tsp saffron strands (soaked in 1 tbsp of warm water)

How to make Shir Sewain

  1. Fry the vermicelli in ghee for a few minutes (you can roast it well until they change the colour, since my family do not like dark colour vermicelli I just roasted them for a few minutes). Add the milk and cook in simmer for few minutes.
  2. Now add the sugar, cook until the sugar gets dissolved and the vermicelli gets cooked. Finally add the crumbled khoya, saffron strands, raisins, nuts give a stir, cook for a few seconds. Turn off the stove.
  3. Serve warm topped with dry fruits and nuts.
