About Moong dal Halwa Recipe

A very famous dessert from Rajasthan, which is equally loved in all over India. It is always there the menu inalmost all the weddings nationwide.

Moong dal Halwa

Ingredients to make Moong dal Halwa

  • moong dal 1 cup
  • Pure ghee 1 cup
  • sugar 1 cup
  • water 1/2 cup
  • Milk 1 cup
  • cardamom powder 1 tsp
  • saffron few strands
  • Chopped pistachios hand full
  • Chopped almonds hand full

How to make Moong dal Halwa

  1. Soak Moong dal for about 2-3 hrs.
  2. Grind it coarsely and keep aside.
  3. In a small bowl take 2 tbsp of milk, warm it and soak saffron in it
  4. Take a non stick pan. Add Ghee in it.
  5. When ghee is hot add grinded Moong dal and stir.
  6. It will take lot of time to stir Moong dal, The stirring dal has to be done continuously and on low flame.
  7. Take another pan add 1/2 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar, and cardamom powder and let it boil. When sugar dissolves switch off gas
  8. Once dal turns golden brown and crispy add sugar water to it
  9. Mix it properly. At the same time add the plain milk and saffron infused milk in it and keep stirring.
  10. Stir until hale becomes dry and ghee comes out on sides.
  11. Garnish with pistachios and almonds and serve with Love.

My Tip:

1. Moong dal halwaa should always be made in non stick pan. 2.Roasting dal has to be done on low flame only
