Langar Wali Dal

Ingredients to make Langar Wali Dal

  • 1 cup whole black gram (Urad dal)
  • 1/4 cup split bengal gram (Chana dal)
  • Water as required
  • Salt as per taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • For tempering - 2 tbsp ghee /clarified butter
  • Cumin seeds 2 tsp
  • 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 4 green chilli finely chopped
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes finely chopped
  • Red chilli powder 2 tsp

How to make Langar Wali Dal

  1. First soak both the lentils in enough water for about 4-5 hours. Rinse and drain the lentils (dals).
  2. Now in a pressure cooker, add soaked dal, 2 garlic finely chopped, salt as per taste, turmeric powder and water (about three glasses).
  3. Pressure cook until dal cooked properly. Stir it with spatula.
  4. Now take a pan, add ghee, when ghee is getting hot add cumin seeds.
  5. Add ginger garlic paste saute it for 2 minutes. Add finely chopped onion and green chillies. Cook until onion becomes golden brown.
  6. Now add finely chopped tomatoes, cook until tomatoes become soft. Add red chilli powder. Turn off the gas. Pour this temper on cooked dal. Mix well with spatula.
  7. Add more melted butter / ghee when serving. Langar wali dal is ready.

My Tip:

You can use slow cook recipe also.
