ABOUT Tali chaap RECIPE

Tali chaap is an absolutely delicious, north indian dish. This can be served as a starter or as a snack too.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/2 kg chaap
  2. 2 tbsp oil + 1 cup oil or enough oil for frying
  3. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  4. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  5. 1/2 tsp haldi powder
  6. 2 tbsp coriander powder
  7. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  8. 1 tsp chat masala
  9. 1 tsp amchur powder
  10. 1 tsp ginger- garlic paste
  11. 2 tbsp onion paste
  12. Salt as per taste
  13. 3/4 cup water
  14. 1/2 - 1 cup of breadcrumbs or cornflakes
  15. 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Wash and drain the chaaps. Keep them aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds to it and wait until it starts to splutter.
  3. Add chaaps and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients to the chaaps.
  5. Cook until 3-4 whistles or until the chaaps become tender.
  6. Open the cooker, saute it until all the water dries and the oil starts to separate.
  7. Heat oil in a wok for frying.
  8. Beat the eggs in a bowl and add salt (as per the taste).
  9. Take 1 chaap, dip it in the beaten eggs, coat it with ground corn flakes or bread crumbs and place it carefully in the hot oil.
  10. Repeat until all chaaps are done.
  11. Fry them till they are golden brown.
  12. Serve them hot with chutney or ketchup.
