Matar Paneer

Ingredients to make Matar Paneer

  • Paneer - 250 grams (cut into cubes)
  • Matar or shelled green peas - 1 cup
  • Ginger paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Chopped onion - 1
  • Tomato - 1 chopped
  • Oil - 1/4 cup
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste

How to make Matar Paneer

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and bay leaf. Let them splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions and fry till golden brown.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste, saute for a minute, add tomato paste and cook until the oil gets separated.
  4. Add peas, all the dry spices and mix well. Add salt.
  5. Add water, bring it to a boil when the water starts boiling, simmer the gas and cover. Cook till the peas are done.
  6. Add paneer and garam masala. Mix and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Turn off the gas and serve hot.

My Tip:

I prefer to use chopped tomatoes instead of using tomato puree.
