Come summers and you are likely to spot vendors selling Bael Sherbet in every corner of the market in north India. People love a glassful of tasty freshness and health. Bael fruit has immense health benefits. It is rich in beta-carotene, thiamine, riboflavin and Vitamin C. It is also a good source of proteins, iron, phosphorous, calcium, niacin and oxalic acid. Bael is a liver and cardiac tonic. A glass of cold bael sherbet is soothing and comforting when the temperatures soar and the heat becomes unbearable.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 ripe bael fruit
  2. Sugar to taste
  3. Lemon 1/2 - 1

Instructions

  1. Break the Bael shell. Scoop out the pulp in a steel container.
  2. Add one glass of water and mash well with hands.
  3. Pass through a strainer to get pulp. Discard seeds and fibrous strands.
  4. Add sugar to taste. Add less sugar if the bael is sweet.
  5. Add lemon juice. Refrigerate. Serve cold.
