ABOUT Nungu payaasam/Palm fruit Kheer RECIPE

Nungu or palm fruit is available in summer only. It has excellent coolant effects.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Nungu or palm fruit 10 pieces
  2. Full cream milk 1 litre
  3. Condensed milk 1 can
  4. Cashews 5
  5. Almonds (peeled) 5
  6. Cardamom 5 (skin removed)
  7. Rose petals for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Peel the palm fruits
  2. Grind half of them into a coarse paste
  3. Chop the rest into Small pieces
  4. Soak the dry fruits for 15 minutes and grind to a smooth paste.
  5. Boil the milk and add the ground paste. Boil it till it is reduced to 3/4th.
  6. Now add the condensed milk and boil for 5 more minutes.
  7. Cool till room temperature is achieved.
  8. Now add the ground nungu and cut nungu pieces and refrigerate for an hour.
  9. Garnish with rose petals and serve chilled.
