Chahou Kheer - Manipuri Rice Kheer

Ingredients to make Chahou Kheer - Manipuri Rice Kheer

  • 1 cup Rice (washed & soaked for 15 minutes)
  • 2 nos Bayleaves
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 cups Milk
  • 4 Cardamom (slightly crushed)
  • 2 tsp grated coconut
  • 1 tsp Raisin
  • Few Cashew nuts
  • Few cherries for garnishing

How to make Chahou Kheer - Manipuri Rice Kheer

  1. Boil the milk in pressure cooker, add the bay leaves, cardamom, cook for few minutes. Add the soaked rice, sugar and give a stir.
  2. Close the pressure cooker and cook for a whistle, put the flame in simmer and cook for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat.
  3. Once the pressure gets released, cook the kheer on medium flame. Add the raisins, grated coconut, cashew nuts and cook for few seconds.
  4. Serve warm topped with few dry fruits and cherries.
