Take the chicken and add to it all the ingredients except the oil, coriander leaves and onion. When mixing the tomatoes cut them into long slices vertically.
Keep the mixture separate to marinate the chicken for nearly about an hour.
Add refined oil to a pan and add the onion slices, fry till they turn golden brown. Add a bit of salt and sugar to it while frying.
Next put the whole marinated mixture to it and cook.
Stir them for a few minute before covering the pan and put it to mild flame. Let it cook and in between lift the lid and stir every once in a few minutes.
When the water is almost dry increase the flame, adding a bit water. Turn off the the gas and add coriander leaves, then keep it in the pan covered for a minute.
Serve it with rotis/parathas or rice if preferred.
