Ingredients to make Dalma

  • 1 cup of any daal (I took toor daal)
  • Vegetables of your choice (1 potato, 1 brinjal, 1 raw banana, 1 cup chopped pumkin,1/2 cup raw papaya, chopped)
  • For tadka:
  • 1 small sized onion, chopped
  • 1 dry red chilli
  • 1 tsp panch phoran
  • 1/2 tsp oil
  • salt as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

How to make Dalma

  1. In a cooker, put in the daal and vegetables, mix in the salt and turmeric powder. Let it cook till 1 whistle blows or till all the vegetables and dal becomes tender and mushy.
  2. Take a kadhai on the gas stove, put in 1 tsp oil and put in the whole dry red chilli and put in the panch phuran and let it crackle.
  3. Put in the chopped onion and fry till it's golden brown. Now mix in the boiled daal and vegetables.
  4. Cook it for 2-3 mins and now it is ready.
  5. Garnish it with some chopped coriander leaves (optional).
