Dhuska

Ingredients to make Dhuska

  • Raw rice 2 cups
  • Chana dal 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Garlic 3
  • Ginger 1 inch
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Kashmiri lal mirch 1/2 tsp
  • Onion finely chopped 1
  • Coriander leaves chopped
  • Green chillies 2

How to make Dhuska

  1. Soak the rice and chana dal for 4 hours.
  2. After this time, wash them thoroughly and grind into a smooth batter by adding green chillies, ginger and garlic with the help of 1-2 tbsp of water.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.
  4. In the batter, add salt, coriander leaves, onions, turmeric powder, chilli powder and mix it nicely.
  5. When the oil is heated with the help of a round spoon, pour a ladleful of batter into the oil. Do not spread it. Note that the flame should be medium.
  6. Now with the help of another ladle flip the side and deep fry till it turns golden brown in colour.
  7. Take it out and keep in the kitchen towel to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with curd or aloo, peas, vegetables or anything you prefer.
My Tip: The batter should not be a thin like dosa batter. The consistency of the batter would be more or less like idli batter. You can add green peas or other vegetables available to the batter before frying.
