Masala Buns

Ingredients to make Masala Buns

  • Refined Flour – 250gms
  • Grain Sugar – 10gms
  • Fresh Yeast – 10gms
  • Salt – 5gms
  • Mustard Oil – 15ml
  • Chat Masala – ½ tsp
  • Kasturi Methi – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ĵ tsp
  • Pepper powder – ĵ tsp
  • Kashmiri Red Chili Powder – ĵ tsp
  • Water – 150ml (approx.)

How to make Masala Buns

  1. Make a soft dough using flour, sugar, yeast & water. Knead it for approximately 10 minutes stretching it all the time to develop glutten.
  2. Mix the mustard oil with the rest of the ingredients & incorporate it in the dough.
  3. Knead again for 5mins till all the spices & oil has been incorporated in the dough. Cover with a damp cloth (not soaking wet cloth) & allow it to prove.
  4. Meanwhile nake a tempering by heating the oil & adding chili flakes, kasturi methi & chat masala.
  5. Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it back in the center & divide the dough into 12 equal portions.
  6. You can shape them into typical Indian laadi pav or dinner rolls or like I did into small buns
  7. Once you have shaped the buns, immediately pre-heat your oven at 230C
  8. Prove them i.e. rest them again for approximately 15 minutes till rises again.
  9. Bake at 230C for 12-15minutes. Apply the tempering over the hot bread buns & sprinkle finely chopped coriander leaves.
My Tip: You can also stuff it with cheese & Enjoy this HOT
