Green chicken curry is a South Karnataka curry which is usually called as 'Koli Saaru'.

Ingredients to make Green Chicken Curry (Mysore style for rice and mudde)

  • chicken 1/2 kg
  • ghee 2 tsp
  • haldi 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • onion 1/2
  • Kasoori methi 2 tsp
  • Ingredients for green masala paste-
  • Sambar/Pearl onion 20-25
  • ginger 1/2 inch
  • garlic 12-13 (2 whole garlic)
  • cinnamon 6-7
  • cloves 8-9
  • green chillies 10 (depends on spice)
  • coriander leaves 1 cup
  • pudina 3/4 cup
  • pepper 1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Ingredients for white masala paste-
  • coconut 1 cup
  • poppy seeds 3 tsp
  • Fried gram 2 tsp
  • oil 5 tsp

How to make Green Chicken Curry (Mysore style for rice and mudde)

  1. Heat a oil in a pan, one by one add all the green masala ingredients and fry it well. Let it cool down and grind everything with dhaniya powder and water to a fine paste. Keep it aside.
  2. Grind the white masala ingredients to a fine paste and keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil and ghee in a vessel, add chopped onion and fry till its golden brown in color. Then add haldi and washed chicken pieces, salt, mix it well and cook it for sometime. Next add green masala, white masala mix and cook it for sometime, add required amount of water and salt. Boil till the chicken is cooked.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add kasoori methi, fry and mix this to a boiling chicken curry.
  5. Serve it hot with rice or raagi ball.
