Ingredients to make Sarson Wali Machli

  • Fish - 750 gm
  • Mustard seeds paste - 2 tbsp
  • Onion paste - 1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste - 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Salt
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
  • Tomatoes - 2 chopped
  • Oil
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

How to make Sarson Wali Machli

  1. Wash the fish pieces gently and marinate with 1 tbsp garlic paste, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp chilli powder and salt for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the marinated fish pieces. Remove from the oil and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in another pan and splatter the fenugreek seeds. Add the mustard paste, remaining garlic paste and onion paste. Cook on a high flame.
  4. Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and mix well. Then add the chopped tomatoes and cook on a high flame till the oil separates.
  5. Add some water and close the lid. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes. Now add the fried fish pieces and cook for another 3 minutes.
  6. Turn off the gas and garnish the fish curry with chopped coriander leaves.
