How to make Microwave Instant Dhokla

  1. First, in a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients except the fruit salt and water. Mix well.
  2. Now slowly add water in batches to make a smooth dough. Remember that the consistency of the dough should be that of Idli batter.
  3. Now let this batter sit for 5 minutes. Then add the fruit salt to it. Mix well, the mixture will start frothing.
  4. Now take a microwave safe bowl. Apply oil to all sides of the bowl. Pour the entire mixture in the bowl. Cover with a tissue paper.
  5. Microwave it for 2 and 1/2 Minutes. Take the bowl out. Uncover the bowl.
  6. Be careful the contents of the bowl is very hot at this point. Cut and check, if the dhokla is done the knife will come out clean. Or you can microwave it for another 30 seconds.
  7. In a pan, add oil to heat. When it's hot, add all the ingredients mentioned for tampering, except the grated coconut. When it splutters add water, salt and sugar.
  8. Let it boil for a minute or less and turn off the gas. Now pour this mixture over the dhokla, sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut.
  9. Let the tadka water sink in well. When cooled, cut the dhokla into desired shapes and serve with hot tea!

My Tip:

Try microwaving the dhokla mix for 2 and 1/2 minutes, if it's not done then microwave it for another half minute. This timing is enough for the dhokla to be perfectly cooked. If it's still not done then microwave it for another minute. If you like the dhokla a little more sweet and spicy, then increase the ginger-green chili paste and add another 1/2 teaspoon more of sugar.
