Ingredients to make Thattai

  • 1 cup of rice flour
  • 1 tbsp of urad dal flour (the dal should be roasted and then made into powder form)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp jeera/cumin
  • 1/4 tsp hing/asafoetida
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp of butter
  • Oil for frying

How to make Thattai

  1. Take the rice flour in a bowl, add the urad dal flour, 1 tbsp of melted butter, hing, sesame seeds, jeera and salt.
  2. Mix it thoroughly and knead the dough by adding water little by little. The dough should be like a puri dough.
  3. Make small dough balls, flatten them into round shaped puris with your hands with the help of greased butter paper or zip lock bags.
  4. Deep fry these puris till they are crisp.
  5. Enjoy it with filter coffee.
