It is prepared in many ways.Odia cuisine is very simple yet delicious cuisine, prepared in little or no oil which not only enhances the taste, but also makes them very healthy. The flavorsome chicken breast is cooked with thenumerous spices to perfection and to the half cooked curry the potato slices are added which gives it a very succulent taste.

Oriya chicken curry

Ingredients to make Oriya chicken curry

  • 1/2 kg chicken
  • 2 potatoes cut into slices
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 2 tomato made into puree
  • 2 sliced onions
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp haldi
  • 2-3 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1tbsp coriander powder
  • 2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 3-4 peppercorn
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1tbsp coriander leaves
  • 1-1 1/2 cup water

How to make Oriya chicken curry

  1. Heat oil in a wok or kadhai,add sliced onions n fry till golden brown
  2. Next add ginger garlic paste
  3. Add tomato puree,chopped green chillies,whole garam masala,all powdered spices n salt
  4. Saute it till the oil is seperated
  5. Now add yogurt n saute it for 2-3 min more
  6. Next add chicken pieces n water
  7. Cook chicken till it is half done,add potato slices
  8. When it is cooked garnish it with chopped coriander leaves n serve
