I have presented step by step process which gives you original way to create proper traditional Gujarati Churma Ladoo recipe. Churma ladoo is a festival sweet famous in Gujarat. This ladoo is served at “Ganesh Chaturthi” festival of lord Ganesha. Churma is the authentic sweet recipe from Rajasthan, the neighbour state of Gujarat in India. It is basically a sweet prepared from jaggerey, ghee (clarified butter) and coarsely ground whole wheat flour. Being a neighbour states, Gujarat and Rajasthan seems to have many similarities in their traditional food and culture. And that can be seen pretty well from the recipes of Churma (Rajasthan Speciality) and Churma Ladoo (Gujarat Speciality). The meaning of “Ladoo” or “Laddu” means round ball. There is saying that lord Ganesha always loves ladoo, either it is made from whole wheat or rice flour or any other ingredients. In my family, we make this ladoo at lord Ganesha birthday (Ganesh Chathuthi).

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 500gms wheat flour
  2. 300gms jaggery
  3. 300gms ghee
  4. Water to knead the dough
  5. 2tsp cardamon powder
  6. 2tsp nutmeg powder

Instructions

  1. TAKE 500GMS OF COARSELY GRINDED WHEAT FLOUR IN A VESSEL
  2. ADD 2- 3 TABLESPOON OF GHEE
  3. MIX USING FINGER TIP TO MAKE CRUMBLE TEXTURE..
  4. SEE THAT IT FORMS A DUMPLING IN UR FIST...
  5. NOW ADD WARM WATER AND MAKE SMALL DUMPLINGS BY ASSEMBLING THE FLOUR
  6. ASSEMBLE SMALL PORTION IN-BETWEEN AND MAKE DUMPLINGS
  7. MAKE SMALL THICK DUMPLINGS
  8. FRY IT IN GHEE ON MEDIUM FLAME TILL BROWN DUSKY IN COLOUR
  9. REMOVE FROM THE FLAME AND LET IT COOL.. REPEAT THE SAME PROCESS FOR ALL THE FLOUR
  10. CUT IT INTO SMALL PIECES USING KNIFE AS ITS HOT
  11. ALLOW IT TO COOL
  12. GRIND IN JAR TILL YOU GET A SMOOTH MIXTUTE..
  13. SIEVE THIS MIXTURE TO REMOVE ANY UNGRINDED LUMPS
  14. THIS IS HOW YOU GET EQUAL SMOOTH MIXTURE
  15. HEAT 1 TBSP GHEE ..ADD 300 GMS JAGGERY IN IT
  16. ALLOW IT TO MELT
  17. ONCE THE JAGGERY HAS MELTED PROPERLY...OFF THE FLAME
  18. TRANSFER IT INTO THE SMOOTH MIXTURE
  19. ADD REQUIRED CARDAMON POWDER,NUTMEG POWDER
  20. ADD THE LEFT GHEE IN IT.. MIX WITH PERFORATED SPOON
  21. IF YOU FEEL THE TEXTURE IS DRY, YOU CAN ADD LITTLE GHEE AND FORM ROUND BALLS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
  22. ROLL THE BALLS ON POPPY SEEDS
