ABOUT KUNG PAO CHICKEN RECIPE

A quick one pot chicken recipe from the Chinese cuisine.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 chicken breast, cut in cubes
  2. 2 spring onion leaves, chopped
  3. 3-4 spring onion bulbs, finely chopped
  4. 5 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  5. 1 inch ginger, grated
  6. 1 teaspoon black pepper powder/sichuan pepper, roast & powder it
  7. 1/4 cup skinless roasted peanuts, can coarsely pound or use as it is
  8. 4-5 dried red chillies
  9. 2 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  10. 1 tablespoon red chilli sauce
  11. 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  12. 1 tablespoon honey
  13. 2 tablespoon cornflour
  14. 1 teaspoon salt
  15. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. WASH AND DRAIN THE CHICKEN PIECES. ADD SALT & SICHUAN PEPPER POWDER
  2. ADD CORNFLOUR
  3. MIX WELL & KEEP ASIDE FOR 15 MINUTES
  4. HEAT SOME OIL FOR FRYING THE CHICKEN
  5. OIL SHOULD BE MEDIUM HOT. ONE BY ONE ADD THE CHICKEN PIECES & FRY FOR 5-7 MINUTES
  6. STIR IN BETWEEN FOR EVEN FRYING
  7. WHEN DONE, REMOVE ON AN ABSORBENT PAPER
  8. TAKE OUT THE EXCESS OIL FROM THE PAN, LEAVING BEHIND 1 TBSP OIL. ADD GARLIC & GINGER
  9. SAUTE ON HIGH FOR 30 SECONDS. THEN ADD THE CHOPPED ONION
  10. AFTER 30 SECONDS ADD WHOLE RED CHILLIES & SAUTE ON HIGH FOR 1 MINUTE
  11. NEXT GOES THE FRIED CHICKEN PIECES
  12. ADD THE PEANUTS
  13. ADD THE SOY SAUCE, HONEY, TOMATO KETCHUP & CHILLI SAUCE MIXTURE
  14. MIX EVERYTHING WELL & COOK THE THE SAUCES COAT THE CHICKEN PIECES & THE MOISTURE EVAPORATES
  15. FINALLY ADD THE SPRING ONION LEAVES & SERVE
