Glowing and healthy skin is something every woman strives for. In our youth,  our skin is naturally beautiful and vibrant but once you cross 30, a good skin care regime becomes a must, especially to prevent skin damage. With age, not only does the skin go through a constant process of growth as old cells die and new ones form, but it is also affected by every aspect of our life-from what we eat to where we live.

Considering all these factors, it has become all the more important to take good care of our skin. Healthy skin is better able to retain its elasticity and its vibrancy, fight the signs of ageing and heal faster, as compared to uncared for and unhealthy skin. Here are 5 practices that every woman above 30 must include in her daily skincare routine:

1) Cleansing

Facial cleansing simply means the process of removing built up dirt, oil and debris from the skin. Throughout the day, our skin is exposed to pollution, dust, bacteria  harsh weather and its own dead cells, which the skin tends to shed off. A complete cleansing process is a must to remove all these impurities and to give skin a new and revitalised look.

A simple face cleaning must be done before you go to bed every day. Removing makeup with the help of raw milk or rose water is a basic, natural cleansing method.  However, there are many skin care products available in the market that have been developed and customised to suit different skin types.

2) Moisturising

Irrespective of your skin type, you must make it a point to moisturise your skin regularly. As we age, skin elasticity reduces and makes the skin drier. Nourishing the skin with a moisturiser is necessary as it helps to maintain the smoothness of the skin. Since the skin needs moisture to survive, use a lotion that best suited for  your skin type  in order to ensure that your skin gets maximum moisture and is protected from damage.

The best way to do so is to apply lotion within a few minutes of bathing. If you have dry skin, use an oil-based lotion on the problem area multiple times a day.

3) Hair Masks

Ageing also takes a toll on the health of your hair and results in dry and fragile hair. Since a hair mask is a deep conditioning treatment for the hair, it is imperative to start using hair packs to repair and nourish your hair from the roots to the ends.

A hair mask should ideally be used every time you wash your hair and if that is not possible, apply a hair mask at least once or twice a week as part of your routine. A clean scalp helps prevent dandruff, which in turn helps to prevent the occurrence of acne on the face.

4) Face Pack

Face packs are an ideal way to take care of your skin as they help to clear your complexion and give it an instant glow. With age, a face pack must be used regularly to tighten and revitalize the skin.

It is not necessary to visit a beauty parlor every time for a facial and you can easily prepare face packs at home by using some common household ingredients like honey, eggs, gram flour, rose water, almond oil, aloe etc. You must try to apply face packs once a week to get a clean, vibrant, healthy and younger looking skin.

5) Hair and Body Massage

Regular massages are a boon for your overall well-being, whether given to your hair, face or to the entire body. A body massage is very helpful in decreasing stiffness, pain and inflammation as it is a true muscle relaxant whereas the head massage not only gives nourishment to your hair but also calms headaches and migraines.

Even if you have a busy schedule, you must try to take out some time for yourself and give yourself a massage regularly.
