7 Simple Steps to give yourself a Manicure at Home!

Our hands are one of the most used parts of our body. From day to night, we are constantly using our hands to do something or the other. Most women are worried about their faces, and they always take some time out of their daily routine to take care of their skin and face. A pretty face makes you look beautiful but having pretty hands, further accentuates your beauty.

To take care of your hands, you don’t need to spend any money on a manicure at an expensive salon. In fact, you can give yourself a manicure at home itself! Regular manicures help to maintain the blood circulation in your hands and help to remove dead skin cells from your hands. This in turn improves the color of the skin and leaves your hands feeling (and looking) soft, supple and rejuvenated.

Here’s how to give yourself an easy manicure at home-

Things required for the manicure:

• A tub filled with soapy, lukewarm water
• An earbud or cotton ball
• Nail polish remover
• Scrubber cream
• Nail brush
• Moisturiser
• Nail Cutter
• Nail File
• Cuticle removing tools
• Base coat (transparent nail polish)
• Nail polish (a color of your choice)
• Nail buffer (optional)

 

How to do the Manicure:

A manicure involves lots of steps. Each of these steps has to be done in a particular order. So, lets start:

 

1) Remove Nail Paint from your Nails

Firstly, remove nail paint from your nails with a nail polish remover. Make sure that you use a good-quality nail polish remover because the acetone present in the nail polish remover can make the nails and the skin around the nails dry.

 

2) Immerse your Hands in Warm Water

Mix a mild shampoo into a tub filled with warm water. Soak your hands in this tub for 10-15 minutes. Use a good nail brush to gently clean your nails. If your nails are still not clean, mix salt and shampoo into the warm water and once again scrub your hands.

 

3) Remove the Cuticles

Dry your hands and apply cuticle cream onto your hands and nails. Cuticles should never be cut with a nail cutter. Instead, use a cuticle removing tool to gently remove the cuticles. If not done carefully, this can end up damaging the outer skin of the nails.

 

4) File your Nails

Now focus on your nails. Carefully cut your nails and make sure to not clip your nails too short. After cutting, the white portion of the nails should still be visible. 

File your nails after cutting them. Use a nail cutter to cut your nails into the desired shape. Slightly cut the corners of the nail and then file the corners to make each nail look smooth. Always remember that the shape of your nails should be similar to the shape of your fingers.

 

5) Scrub

Use a mild scrub to gently scrub and massage your hands. Doing so removes dead skin cells from your hands and exfoliates them, making your hands shine and look even more beautiful.  

 

6) Use a Cream to Massage your Hands

After scrubbing your hands, wash them and dry them with a clean towel. After doing all these steps, your hands will become clean and the skin of your hands will become soft. After this, using a good hand cream, massage your hands for 10-15 minutes. The massage helps the skin absorb the cream, thereby ensuring that the cream penetrates into the inner layers of the skin and nourishes your hands from the inside. Not only will this step make your skin soft, but it will also improve blood circulation and make your hands look even more beautiful.

 

7) Apply Nail Polish

To make your hands even more attractive and to protect the manicure you have given yourself, apply nail polish onto your nails. Apply a base coat first. Once the coat has dried, apply two layers of the nail polish before giving it the finishing touch. If, after the second coat, your nail polish goes outside the nail, then use an earbud dipped in nail polish remover to remove the excess polish. If you do not want to apply a nail polish, then use a nail buffer to buff your nails. After this, you can leave your nails unpainted.
