Since her childhood, Alia had always dreamt of being an actress. 6 years after she made her Bollywood debut, the 25-year old actress has established herself as one of the best actresses of her generation.

Alia’s Bollywood journey started with ‘Student of the Year’ in 2012. For her role in the movie, Karan Johar asked the actress to lose 20 kgs in 6 months. Alia lost 13 kgs in 3 months.

After her debut, Alia started her lifelong affair with fitness. In every movie that she did after ‘Student of the Year’, such as ‘2 states’ and ‘Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania’, the actress  lost even more weight.

Alia’s latest release ‘Raazi’, earned 100-crores at the box office and cemented her position as one of the most talented actresses of her generation.

Today, BetterButter brings to you a glimpse into 25-year old Alia Bhatt’s diet plan and fitness routine.

 

Diet Plan

Breakfast: Alia starts her day with a cup of herbal tea or coffee (without sugar). She eats a bowl of poha, an egg white sandwich, toast or a vegetable sandwich for breakfast.

Lunch: For lunch, Alia sticks to home-cooked food. She has dal, roti and a vegetable-all of which is made with less or no oil.

Dinner: Alia ends the day by having one roti (made without oil) or 1 bowl of rice with dal or some vegetable. Apart from this, at times Alia also has a piece of chicken breast or roasted chicken. However, Alia’s favourite dinner is curd rice.

Snacking: In between meals, Alia snacks on fruits, makhanas, peanuts or has 1 idli with sambhar (if she’s feeling hungry). Alia keeps herself well-hydrated throughout the day by drinking lots of water and vegetable juices.

Post-workout: After her workout, Alia makes it a point to either have a glass of saffron-flavoured nimbu paani or a glass of coconut water.

 

Workout Routine

Alia’s workout routine is a combination of cardio and pilates.

Cardio: Alia spends 15 minutes on the treadmill-she walks for 5 minutes and then runs on the treadmill for the remaining 10 minutes. Alia does her cardio exercises every alternate day. Alia’s cardio routine looks something like this:

Day 1: 3 sets each of pushups, dumbbell raises, bicep curls, lat pulldowns, and triceps push down. Each set includes 20 reps.

Day 2: Rest.

Day 3: 3 sets each of crunches, back extensions, bicycle crunches and reverse crunches. Each set includes 15-20 reps.

Day 4: Rest.

Day 5: 3 sets of squats, back lunges, forward lunges and dumbbell lunges. Each set consists of 20-25 reps.

 

Pilates:  Alia refers to herself as a “Pilates Girl”. With the help of celebrity trainer Yasmin Karachiwala, Alia does a lot of pilates. The actress says that pilates helps her to challenge and tone her core strength. This form of exercise also helps the actress improve her stability and shoulder strength. Doing pilates makes Alia feel very good about herself.    

Alia’s diet plan and workout routine are very simple and very easy to follow. Try following her routine and see how it goes. However, remember that everyone’s body is different. What works for one person may not necessarily work for another person, so choose a diet plan and a workout routine that best suits your body and your age.
