Not many would be aware that they might be facing a uterine fibroid or as doctors call it a ‘myomas’. Fibroids are small tumor-like extra muscles that grow in the uterus or in your womb, but fibroids rarely get converted to uterine cancer. Fibroids either occur on the wall of the uterus or on the surface of the uterus. They can also vary in size, shape, and location. One can never identify a fibroid until you know the symptoms caused by a fibroid.
Listed below are the symptoms of uterine fibroids –
- Enlarged abdomen or stomach
- Heavy painful bleeding
- Bleeding in between menstrual cycles.
- Pain during intercourse
- Constant miscarriages
- Labor issues
- Constipation
- Frequent urination or trouble emptying the bladder
Causes of Fibroids:
Though the causes of a fibroid are not clear yet, some experts do attribute a few of these to the occurrence of fibroids:
1) Pregnancy
2) Genetic Factors
If any member in your family has a history of fibroids, be it your mother, sister or grandmother, then you are likely to end up with fibroids as well.
3) Food Habits
4) Hormones
Every time during your periods, the layer of your uterus is thickened by the release of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. This, in turn, might lead to the growth of fibroids. Fibroids are likely to shrink during menopause.
5) Obesity
