The colour of egg yolk may differ ranging from yellow to orange. However, the taste always remains the same. But, what caught attention recently was the green coloured egg yolk. Green eggs! Yes, you have heard it right!
A.K. Shihabuddin who is a native of Malappuram village in Kerala claimed his hens laying eggs with green yolks. Shihabuddin shared how he was at first sceptical about the eggs. He and his family did not consume these eggs initially. But, very soon this incident turned viral and some scientists started visiting Shihabuddin’s place to know more about these green eggs.
Shihabuddin was even asked about whether he was feeding something different to the hens. But, when he shared how he was feeding nothing unusual, the scientist became even more curious. He only admits giving the hens a natural herb, Kurunthotti. So, a number of scientists from Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University visited Shihabuddin’s place and wanted to know more about this incident.
The scientists conducted research and revealed that they found a green pigmentation in the fat deposits of these hens. Further, the scientist also shared how within two weeks the green colour of the yolk soon changed to yellow. Doesn’t this sound interesting?
