Leukorrhea or white discharge is a very common problem that many women suffer from. There is a white or yellow-colored secretion from the vagina, which might not always be harmful. At times, it is odorless but if it smells bad, it could be a sign of an infection. Doctors usually test the discharge to find out what kind of leukorrhea it is and only then prescribe a medicine. Although all women get some discharge naturally, which helps to keep the vagina moist and helps to get rid of all the harmful bacteria, but the moment this discharge becomes smelly or changes its color, it is a sign of leukorrhea.
Here are some simple home remedies that can help to get rid of leukorrhea:
1) Amla (Indian Gooseberry) Powder
Ladyfinger is immensely effective in treating leukorrhea. Boil 100 gms ladyfinger in 1 litre of water. Allow this water to cool. Add 100 ml of honey to this water and drink it twice daily. The problem will be solved within a month.
3) Overripe Banana
An overripe banana is a sure-shot solution to the problem of leukorrhea. Eat one overripe banana with ghee or alternatively you may eat a banana and then drink a glass of milk with half tsp ghee in it. It will start showing results very soon.
4) Coriander Seeds
Coriander seeds are considered to be very effective in treating leukorrhea. Take a handful of coriander seeds and soak them in water overnight. Drink this water first thing in the morning every day and very soon, leukorrhea will go away.

Ayurveda considers licorice to be highly effective in treating leukorrhea. Mix half a tsp each of licorice powder and honey and consume it twice daily if the problem is in an aggravated state. Once the problem starts to subside, you can reduce it to once daily.
7) Alum (Fitari) and Curd Ointment
It is very common to feel itchiness around the vagina while suffering from leukorrhea. The continuous discharge makes the area around the vagina overly moist and this causes infection and becomes itchy. Take a pinch of alum powder and mix it with a tsp of curd and apply it carefully around your vagina. This will help to get rid of the itchiness in a few days and will also help to reduce the internal symptoms of leukorrhea. This is because curd contains good probiotic bacteria.
8) Rice Water
According to Ayurveda, rice water is very beneficial in treating any kind of discharge. Take half a bowl of rice and soak them in half glass water. Sieve the rice after a few hours and drink this water daily till you get the desired result.
