Karwa Chauth Celebrations in Bollywood

Karwa Chauth is a very important festival for Indian women. They wake up before sunrise, have sargi and stay without water to pray for their husband’s long life. Many Bollywood celebs also keep Karwa Chauth for the long life of their husbands. Here is a sneak peak into the Karwa chauth celebrations of Bollywood: 

 

1) Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma fasted for her husband Virat Kohli for the first time after marriage. The couple shared a very cute picture on social media. Anushka looked very nice in her yellow and white saree.

 

2) Shilpa Shetty Kundra

Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra fasted for her husband Raj Kundra,  just like she does every year.  She looked stunning in her grey designer saree. The duo spent a quiet evening together after Shilpa broke her fast.

 

3) Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya

Television actress Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya also fasted for her husband Vivek Dahiya. They looked really nice together.

 

4) Sunita Kapoor

Anil Kapoor’s wife, Sunita Kapoor also fasted for him and just like every year, she organized a Karwa Chauth party at her house.

Various celebrities including Raveena Tandon and Neelam came to the Kapoor house for the puja. Sunita Kapoor posted the picture on Instagram and captioned it,  “Miss you Sridevi.” Late actress Sridevi was married to Anil Kapoor’s elder brother Boney Kapoor and lost her life in February this year, under mysterious circumstances.

 

5) Raveena Tandon Thadani

Yesteryear actress Raveena Tandon fasted for her husband Anil Thadani. Her traditional red suit made her look very ethnic and was apt for the occasion.

 

6) Abhishek Bachchan

It must have been a pleasant experience for former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, since her husband Abhishek Bachchan also fasted with her. He tweeted “#KarvaChauth, good luck ladies…. And the dutiful husbands who should also be fasting with their wives! I do.” 

 

7) Sonam Kapoor Ahuja

It was actress Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s first Karwa Chauth but she did not fast, since her husband Anand Ahuja gave her a very hilarious reason for not doing it. The couple however, posted some very cute pictures, where both applied mehendi on their hands. There was a heart on their hand and Sonam also wrote AS on her hand. She posted her picture with this message, “I hope to live my best life with you always my love and to being the most progressive, compassionate and gentle man I know. Happy KC and thank you for bullying me into not keeping it in the most hilarious way possible.” Anand replied with an equally cute,  “I didn’t bully you! I just said that I’m fasting if you’re fasting, and if we don’t fast we can just walk around and workout and enjoy the day together! Does that sound like bullying? That sounds like intelligence to me.”

8) Ayushman Khurana

Actor Ayushman Khurana fasted for his wife Tahira’s long life and health since she is fighting cancer and is not allowed to fast.
