Symptoms of Appendicitis that often go Unnoticed

Nowadays, almost every other person is disturbed by the pain of appendicitis. But do you know what exactly is appendicitis? It is actually an inflammation that occurs in the appendix. An appendix is the finger-shaped extension of the large intestine, located at the lower right side of your abdomen. In appendicitis, you will feel pain starting around the navel and spreading to the entire stomach. As soon as swelling starts growing, the pain gets elevated. Appendicitis is a type of medical emergency that almost always needs immediate surgery to remove the appendix.

Although the problem of appendicitis can happen to a person of any age, it often happens to people aged 10 to 30 years of age. Many times we get confused during appendicitis, thinking that this pain may be caused by acidity or some other problem. Hence it is very important to know the symptoms of appendicitis. If the inflamed appendix is not treated in time it can eventually burst, scattering infectious substances into the abdominal cavity.

To understand appendicitis, it is most important to know its symptoms, let’s understand about some of its symptoms-

1. Sudden pain on the right side of the lower abdomen

During appendicitis, there is severe pain in the stomach especially, in the lower right part of the lower abdomen.


2. Poor appetite

Appendicitis is accompanied by severe pain as well as a complete lack of appetite.


3. Sudden Abdominal Pain

The pain of appendicitis increases, even more, when you cough, walk or while doing some physical work.


4. Burning Sensation while Urinating

Appendicitis also affects urination, it causes pain in our intestines causing severe pain during the process of urination.


5. Vomiting and Dizziness

Digestive problems are very common among patients with appendicitis. It also causes vomiting along with stomach ache and dizziness.


6. Light Fever

The fever is normally caused due to the infection. The appendix gets inflamed causing the body temperature to rise and it makes the immune system weak. But if the treatment is not taken in time, the fever gradually increases.


7. A Sudden Pain Near the Navel

The pain starts suddenly around the navel and it starts to spread to the right side of the stomach.

There may be several reasons for appendicitis, and many times we do not even understand the correct reason behind it. Given below are some of its primary reasons-

  • A blockage inside the appendix
  • Increasing tissues in the wall of your appendix.
  • Stomach pain
  • Stomach injury
  • Parasites and other bacteria present in the stomach.
