Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Fish (Pomfret/karimeen) 300 gms
  2. Onion 1
  3. Garlic 3 pods
  4. Ginger 1 inch
  5. Coconut 3/4 cup grated
  6. Sesame seeds 1 1/2 tbsp
  7. Tamarind pulp 2 tbsp
  8. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  9. chilli powder 1 tsp
  10. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  11. Lemon juice 1 tsp
  12. Salt as per your taste
  13. oil 2 tbsp
  14. Ghee 2 Tbsp
  15. Curry leaves 2 sprigs

Instructions

  1. Wash and marinate fish pieces with turmeric powder , salt and lemon juice
  2. Dry roast coconut and sesame seeds until light brown in low heat
  3. Heat another pan . Add oil and heat . Add cumin powder , turmeric powder . Saute for 30 seconds in low heat , add chopped onion, garlic and ginger . Saute for 1 minute . Keep aside
  4. Extract tamarind pulp
  5. Shallow fry fishes in high to medium heat , until both sides turn light golden. Keep aside.
  6. Now grind together onion, garlic , spice mixture and roasted sesame seeds and coconut mixture together.
  7. Heat ghee in a pan , add curry leaves , saute for 30 seconds. Add ground paste mixture. Saute for 2 minutes in medium heat. Add 1 1/2 cups of water.
  8. Add salt
  9. Boil gravy , add fish pieces
  10. Add tamarind pulp , let the gravy thickened . Add 1/2 tsp sugar . Check salt and sugar ratio. Switch off gas.
  11. Serve hot with rice
