Malabar Style Crab Roast

Njandu (Crab) Roast

Ingredients to make Njandu (Crab) Roast

  • 8 Crabs, cleaned and chopped
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 large onions, minced
  • 3 green chillies, slit
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • 3/4 tsp Garam masala powder

How to make Njandu (Crab) Roast

  1. Heat oil in the pressure cooker. Saute onions and green chillies till soft.
  2. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.
  3. Add the tomatoes and the masala powders and cook till mashed.
  4. Add the chopped crab, give a nice mix and close the lid of the pressure cooker.
  5. Cook 1 whistle on high and then leave it on simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off and allow the pressure to go by itself.
  6. Open the lid and add the garam masala powder. Mix well. Serve warm as a side for rice or with chapatis.
