Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Chicken - 1Kg(cut into pieces)
  2. Potato - 5/6 nos.(cut into halves)
  3. Tomato - 2nos.(cut into slices)
  4. Onion paste - 4/5tbsp
  5. Ginger paste - 1tbsp
  6. Garlic paste - 1tbsp
  7. Curd - 150gm
  8. Bay leaves - 2nos.
  9. Cumin - 1tsp
  10. Cumin powder - 2tsp
  11. Coriander powder - 2tsp
  12. Red chilli powder - 1tsp
  13. Kashmiri Red Chilli powder - 2tsp
  14. Turmeric - 1tsp + 1tsp
  15. Garam masala powder - 1tsp
  16. Salt - As per taste
  17. Sugar - 2tsp
  18. Mustard Oil - 4tbsp
  19. Water - As per requirement

Instructions

  1. Wash the chicken pieces thoroughly with water so that no dirt remains.
  2. Marinate the chicken with Salt, Turmeric, Half Cumin Powder, Half Coriander Powder, Half Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder & Curd for about 30mins.
  3. Marinate the potato pieces with salt & turmeric and fry till little brown. Keep aside.
  4. Pour Mustard oil in a Cooker. When oil becomes little hot Add little sugar in it. Then put bay leaves in it.
  5. Then add cumins in it. When it crackles add tomatoes. Saute for 2mins. Then add onion paste. Add salt to it. Saute till onion paste changes its colour.
  6. Add Ginger & Garlic paste to it. Sprinkle some water if needed. Saute it.
  7. Then add all the masalas like turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, garam masala powder. Saute it with all other pastes. Sprinkle water if needed.
  8. After oil gets separated from masalas add marinated chicken pieces & saute it for 15mins in low to medium flame. Add fried potatoes.
  9. Add little more water just to cover up the chicken & potatoes or as per gravy.
  10. Close the lid of the cooker & just give 2 whistles. Open the cooker when gas comes out fully.
  11. Chicken Curry is ready. Serve it with Plain Steamed Rice.
