ABOUT Tofu Bhurji RECIPE

Sometimes when no one shows interest in eating eggs tofu bhurji is cooked in the kitchen with bell pepper. A great breakfast option with wheat bread, or stuff in sandwich. A great combination for those who are loosing weight. A great snack with green tea too.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 250 Gram Tofu
  2. 1 Tsp cumin seeds
  3. 1 Big onion chopped finely
  4. 2 Medium size tomatos chopped finely
  5. 1 Tsp grated ginger
  6. 1 Tsp grated garlic
  7. 1/2 Cup green bell pepper chopped finely
  8. 1/2 Cup yellow bell pepper chopped finely
  9. 1/2 Cup red bell pepper chopped finely
  10. 1/4 Tsp turmeric powder
  11. 1/2 Tsp red chili powder
  12. 1/2 Tsp kitchen king powder
  13. 1/4 Tsp coriander powder
  14. 2 Tblsp kasoori methi
  15. A pinch of asafoetida
  16. Chopped green coriander
  17. Salt as per taste
  18. 1 Tsp lemon juice
  19. 1 .5 Tblsp oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the packet and drain all the water from tofu. Grate tofu and keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in kadhahi/pan, add cumin seeds. Once cumin seeds starts crackling add chopped onion. Fry them till they turn golden brown.
  3. Now add grated ginger, garlic. Cook it for a min or till garlic’s raw smell goes away. Add chopped tomato. Cook them till their mushy texture.
  4. Now add all color bell peppers, mix well and cover the lid. Cook for 2-3 min, bell peppers will become soft.
  5. After this add salt, kitchen king powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and asafoetida. Mix well and stir for a min. Add kasoori methi and mix.
  6. Finally mix tofu in this mixture. Stir well for 2-3 min. Adjust salt as per taste. Add lemon juice and chopped coriander. Mix well, cover the lid and cook for 1-2 min on low flame.
  7. Tofu bhurji is ready to serve hot with bread/roti/paratha/flatbread. Garnish with chopped coriander before serving.
