Being From South India we always loved to explore and enjoy all the south Indian dishes.A sadya platter generally contains 15-25 dishes. So I have tried my best to put up this platter with some additional dishes. Sharing the very important dish from the sadya which is paruppu curry which is mild and yummy to have with hot steamed rice.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Toordal - 1 cup
  2. turmeric pd - 1/2 tsp
  3. Red onion - 2 tbsp chopped
  4. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  5. oil - 1 tbsp
  6. cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  7. coconut (grated) - 1/2 cup
  8. Green chilly - 2no
  9. small onion - 2 chopped


  1. In a pressure cooker, cook washed toor dal with turmeric powder for 2- 3 whistle.
  2. After the pressure subsides remove the lid and mash the dal well.
  3. Grind coconut, cumin seed, small onion, green chillies in a mixer to a paste.
  4. Add the ground mixer, water to make it a bit thin, salt and mix well.
  5. For seasoning heat oil in a pan splutter mustard seeds, curry leaves, then add whole red chilli.
  6. Saute some chopped onion in it till transparent .
  7. Now transfer this to dal and boil the dal for 2- 5 mins.
  8. Serve the with steamed rice, with some ghee drizzled on it
