Potato fritters is the famous tea time evening snacks of Kolkata named as'televaja' or 'Alur chop'. Children are very much fond of this evening snacks. They ate well with puffed rice very much.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Boiled and smashed 4 potatoes
  2. 2 sliced onion
  3. Roasted cumin and corriander powder 4 table spoon
  4. Red chilly powder 2 Table spoon
  5. salt to taste
  6. 1 cup refined oil
  7. Gram flour 1 cup


  1. Boil the 4 potatoes in a pressure cooker and smashed it.
  2. Add 3 table spoon roasted corriander cumin powder, 2 Table spoon red chilly powder,salt to taste.mix well.
  3. When it becomes cold, shape them into round balls and flatten them a bit.
  4. We have to make batter with the help of the gram flour and 1/2 cup water,salt. Take each flattened ball ,Dip into the batter .
  5. Fry the battered round flattened ball in heated oil. Deep fry them until they are golden brown on both sides.
  6. Now it is ready to be served with ring shaped onion and tomato sauce for your kids. Often ,it is served with puffed rice.
