Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 Eggs
  2. 90 gms butter
  3. 300 gms flour
  4. 75 gms dark cocoa
  5. 150 gms castor sugar
  6. 150 ml butter milk
  7. 3 tbsp white wine vinegar
  8. 2 tsp red color
  9. 2 tsp baking soda
  10. 50 gms melted chocolate
  11. 1 tsp vanilla essence
  12. A pinch of salt
  13. For the icing:
  14. 1 Packet Philadelphia cream cheese
  15. 30 gms butter
  16. 40 gms icing sugar
  17. 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven at 180 degree C.
  2. Beat the sugar and butter together till it becomes all creamy. Add the Eggs, and whip it for another minute or two.
  3. Make a paste of food coloring, cocoa and vanilla. Add to the creamed mixture.
  4. Add buttermilk, flour and salt. Whip it for another 30 odd seconds, till all the ingredients have amalgamated well.
  5. Take the white wine vinegar in another bowl and add baking soda. Hold the bowl as it foams, then add to the batter.
  6. Give the batter a good whip, till all the ingredients are well amalgamated. Add the melted chocolate and mix well.
  7. Grease a 10-inch baking mould, and bake for 25 to 35 minutes at 200 degree C.
  8. For the frosting, beat all the ingredients together in a medium-sized bowl. Keep aside. Once the cake is baked, cool it for about 20 minutes and remove from the pan. Frost with the cream cheese mixture.
  9. In case you can get your hands on it, it looks very pretty with Silver sugar balls, or even tiny chocolate chips. In case you are too lazy to make the cream cheese frosting, just cover it with icing sugar and serve.
