ABOUT Veg Shami Kebab RECIPE

Shami Kebab is usually non vegetarian but giving the whole thing a new twist and something to add to the veg platter. Shami Kebab is usually made with meat ingredient. I have substituted meat with another protein that is soya granules.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chana dal 200gms
  2. Soya granules 100 gms
  3. Ginger 1 tbsp chopped
  4. Green chillies 2 chopped
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 2 tbsp corn flour
  7. 2 tbsp. Hung curd
  8. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  9. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  10. A pinch asafoetida
  11. 1 tsp garam masala
  12. 1/2 cup corriender leaves
  13. 6 cloves garlic chopped
  14. 1 chopped onion
  15. Edible oil

Instructions

  1. SOAK 200GMS CHANA DAL FOR UP TO 8 HOURS.
  2. AFTER DAL HAS BEEN SOAKED PER BOIL IT.
  3. REMOVE EXCESS WATER. DAL COOKED LIKE THIS.
  4. BOIL 100GMS SOYA GRANULES.
  5. REMOVE EXCESS WATER.
  6. IN A NON-STICK PAN HEAT 2 TBSP OIL ADD 1 TSP CUMIN, 6 CLOVES FINELY CHOPPED GARLIC.
  7. 1/4 TSP ASAFOETIDA, 2 CHOPPED GREEN CHILLIES.
  8. ADD 1 FINELY CHOPPED ONION SAUTE.
  9. ADD 1 TBSP GINGER PASTE.
  10. ADD BOILED DAL.
  11. ADD SOYA GRANULES.
  12. ADD SALT TO TASTE
  13. MIX WELL.
  14. ADD 1 TSP GARAM MASALA, 1 TSP RED CHILLI POWDER.
  15. ADD 1/2 CUP FINELY CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES
  16. SAUTE TILL WATER SOAKED.
  17. MAKE SMALL PATTIES.
  18. FLATTEN LIKE THIS.
  19. DUST CORN FLOUR ON THEM.
  20. MARINATE THESE PATTIES WITH HUNG CURD
  21. PLACE IN A PLATE.
  22. LEAVE THEM IN THE FRIDGE FOR AN HOUR.
  23. AFTER AN HOUR ON A NON-STICK PAN FRY THE PATTIES.
  24. SHALLOW FRY IN LOW FLAME.
  25. FLIP ALL THE PATTIES.
  26. FRY THE PATTIES TILL THEY ATTAIN GOLDEN BROWN COLOUR.
  27. SERVE HOT.
  28. NJOYYYY!
