Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Fine semolina 1 cup
  2. curd 3/4 cup
  3. sugar 1 tsp
  4. Beetroot puree 1/2cup
  5. salt as per taste
  6. 2 tsp ginger green chili paste
  7. Some curry leaves
  8. 1tbsp oil
  9. 1tsp mustard seeds
  10. 2 tsp fruit salt (eno)
  11. 3 tbsp hung curd


  1. Take a bowl Add semolina, curd, sugar, salt , ginger ,greenchili paste,beetroot puree and water mix well. keep the batter aside for 15 min.
  2. Add fruit salt in batter and mix well.
  3. pour batter in greased mould and steam in preheated steamer for about 20 min on high flame.
  4. Heat oil in pan add mustard seeds, when seeds crackle add curry leaves and green chillies.
  5. spread hung curd on dhokala.
  6. pour tempering over the prepared dhoklas and spread evenly.
  7. Garnish red velvet dhokala with some coriander leaves. Enjoy dhokalas with your favourite chutney
