ABOUT Soya Chunks Biryani RECIPE

Soya Chunk Biriyani is a healthy and one pot spicy Indian rice recipe. Soya Chunks, veggies and rice cooked in a aromatic Indian spice masala.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 cups of cooked Basmati rice
  2. 1 large onion
  3. 2 tomatoes, chopped
  4. 4 green chillies
  5. 1″ piece of ginger
  6. 4 garlic cloves
  7. 1 tsp of freshly ground mixture with 2 cloves, 2 cardamom, 1″ piece of cinnamon
  8. 1/2 tsp of black pepper powder
  9. 1/4 cup of soya chunks, cooked in boiling water for 5 mins, drained, and squeezed of extra water 
  10. 1/2 tsp of cumin
  11. 1 bay leaf
  12. 1 tsp of Coriander powder
  13. 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder
  14. a pinch food colour
  15. tbsp of ghee or oil
  16. To taste Salt

Instructions

  1. Grind together the onion, green chillies, ginger, and garlic.
  2. Heat oil or ghee and add the cuminand bay leaf . When it sizzles, add the onion paste and fry together until it turns a darker shade of brown.
  3. Next, add the red chilli powder and coriander powder, fry for 5 seconds, and add the tomato. until the oil begins to show on the sides – about 10 mins.
  4. Now add the soya chunks. Mix well and heat until the mixture mingles well – about 3 mins.
  5. Finally mix in the cooked rice, salt and pepper and mix well. Add food colour with 1 tablespoons water.
  6. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with any raita of choice.
