ABOUT Curd Rice RECIPE

It is a soothing dish. It can be eaten just plain or served at the end of the meal. At home our meal ends with curd rice atleast a spoon. It is a South Indian dish. Served also as prasadam in temple.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rice - 1/2 cup
  2. Curd - 1 cup
  3. Milk - 1/2 cup
  4. Oil - 2 tsp
  5. Mustard - 1/2 tsp
  6. Jeera - 1/2 tsp
  7. Channa dal - 1 tbsp
  8. Urad dal - 1/2 tbsp
  9. Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
  10. Coriander
  11. Red chili - 2
  12. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Pressure cook the rice till soft for 3-4 whistles.
  2. After the pressure is released mash the rice with the back of the spoon.
  3. In a kadai heat oil, add mustard and Jeera.
  4. When they splutter add channa dal, urad dal fry.
  5. Next add the curry leaves, broken red chilli.
  6. To the rice add salt to taste, milk and mix. If it is thick add a little more. As we are adding milk to hot rice it will absorb the milk fast. Keep it a little watery.
  7. Now add the curd and mix. If required add a little more than the said quantity.
  8. Add the prepared Tadka to the rice, along with chopped Coriander.
  9. Check the consistency and adjust the curd.
  10. Serve with pickle of your choice.
