Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Aahar dal 1/3 cup
  2. Radish peeled and sliced 3/4 cup
  3. Water 2 cups
  4. Onion diced 1/4 cup
  5. Tomato 1/2 cup sliced
  6. Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  7. Dal channe 1/2 tsp
  8. Curry leaves 12
  9. Hing a pinch
  10. Fenugreek seeds 6
  11. Sambhar powder 2 tsp
  12. Lemon sized tamarind
  13. Salt 1 tsp
  14. Turmeric 1/2 rsp
  15. Red chillies 1
  16. Green chillies 1 small seeds removed
  17. Desi ghee - 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Wash dal and soak in water for 1/2 hour at least.
  2. Soak tamarind in 1/4 cup water.
  3. Grind fenugreek seeds and hing together.
  4. In a pressure cooker boil 2 cups of water.. Add sliced radish and dal, salt, turmeric in. Pressure cook it for 15 min on low heat. Open lid of pressure cooker and mash Dal.
  5. In a wok take a teaspoon of ghee. Add some channa dal and fry. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves. Add diced onions and saute it.
  6. Add sliced tomatoes and cook till soft.
  7. Add tamarind juice and cook till rawness of tamarind goes away
  8. Mix tomato mixture with dal and cook. If thick add some hot water.
  9. In another pan add remaining ghee add hing+ fenugreek powder. put whole red chilli in it.
  10. Stir for a while and mix it with dal.
  11. Serve Mullangi Sambhar with rice.
