The main ingredient in the preparation of this savoury dish is curd and rice flour. This is from the Karnataka cuisine and mainly popular in the region of mysore and Bangalore.

Ingredients to make Curd Murukku | Mosaru Kodubale

  • curd 1/2 cup
  • water 1 1/2 cup
  • cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli finely chopped 1/2 tsp
  • Currry leaves finely chopped 1/2 tsp
  • coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tsp
  • Rice flour 1 cup
  • oil for deep frying
  • salt to taste

How to make Curd Murukku | Mosaru Kodubale

  1. Heat a nonstick pan and add curd.
  2. Add water and mix well.
  3. Meanwhile add cumin seeds, finely chopped green chilli, curry leaves, coriander leaves and salt one by one.
  4. After few minutes you can see rolling bubbles and at this stage you have to add rice flour.
  5. Keep adding the rice flour and at the same time keep sauteing.
  6. Within few seconds the mixture will form a thick dough like consistency.
  7. Transfer the dough onto a plate and let it cool for a while.
  8. When it is warm grease your hand and take a portion of it and roll.
  9. Now take a small gooseberry sized dough and roll it using palms.
  10. Bring the edges together and seal it.
  11. Shape all the murukku's and make preparations for deep frying.
  12. Deep fry the murukku's in a medium flame evenly till it turns golden and crisp.
  13. Allow it to cool and store them in an airtight container and serve as a tea time snack.
