Oats chivda is a healthy and tasty snack that can be savored whenever hunger strikes in. This healthy recipe can be made well in advance and delved into when you need something to charge you up. This healthy snack is a combination of healthy oats, crispy poha, roasted chana dal , sesame seeds and a dash of Indian spices .

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. • 2 tsp oil
  2. • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  3. • 3 green chilies , lengthwise
  4. • 3 sprigs curry leaves
  5. • 1/4 tsp asafetida
  6. • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  7. • 1 cup quick cooking rolled oats , roasted
  8. • 1/2 cup beaten rice (poha) , roasted
  9. • 1/4 cup roasted chana dal
  10. • salt to taste
  11. • 3 tsp white sesame


  1. Heat the oil in a non-stick pan, add the mustard seeds, green chilies and curry leaves.
  2. When the seeds crackle, add the asafetida and turmeric powder and mix well.
  3. Add the oats, poha, sesame seeds, chana dal, sugar and salt and toss well.
