About Goli Bajji Recipe

This is delicious snack from Coastal Karnataka, also famously known as Mangalore Bajji, was taught to me by my neighbour, Geetha Bhat. Crispy outside, soft inside, this snack tastes good with tea/coffee, along with downpour from sky.

Goli Bajji

Ingredients to make Goli Bajji

  • 1 cup Maida/ all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp of Ric flour
  • 1 Cup of Sour curd
  • 1 tbsp of finely chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp of finely chopped curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp of finely chopped green chillies
  • 2 tbsp of finely chopped coconut
  • 1/2 tbsp of baking soda
  • salt to taste
  • oil for Deep frying

How to make Goli Bajji

  1. Add Maida and Rice flour in a mixing bowl and mix well
  2. To this add Sour Curd and Salt. Add water if required. The consistency of the batter should be thicker than Dosa batter
  3. To this batter, add Finely chopped ginger, curry leaves, green chillies and coconut
  4. Keep it aside for 30-40 minutes
  5. After the batter is set, heat the oil in a kadai
  6. Wet your hands with water and take a small ball of batter and drop it into oil.
  7. Cook them on medium flame heat and turn them around, till they are golden brown
  8. Serve hot with coriender chutney and coffee/tea

My Tip:

Sometimes i add finely chopped onions for extra taste
