ABOUT Chicken Curry RECIPE

An authentic everyday chicken dish with mixed variations.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chicken - 500 gm
  2. For Marination:
  3. Salt as per taste
  4. Tumeric powder - 1 tsp
  5. Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  6. Jeera powder 1 tsp
  7. Dhania powder 1 tsp
  8. Chicken masala powder 2 tsp
  9. Red chilli powder as per taste
  10. For gravy:
  11. 2 medium onion thinly sliced
  12. Whole garam masala - 1 dalchini, 5 cloves, few black pepper seeds
  13. 2 tsp garlic paste
  14. 1 tsp ginger paste
  15. Salt as per taste
  16. Roughly chopped 2 medium tomato
  17. Mustard oil - as required
  18. Potatoes cut in half and fried
  19. Water
  20. Hing 1/4 tsp
  21. Kasoori methi - for garnish
  22. Sabut dhania seeds 1/2 tsp
  23. For garnish - chilli, onion-tomato slices, green coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by adding the the dry masalas as mentioned in the ingredients list. Marinate for half an hour.
  2. Now in cooker add mustard oil. When the oil warms up add the onion.
  3. When the onions turn pink, add the whole garam masala, ginger and garlic paste. Mix well and saute till onion changes colour to brown.
  4. Add the marinated chicken pieces and mix well.
  5. Cover the cooker with some plate.
  6. When oil starts separating, add salt if required and the chopped tomatoes and mix. Cover again.
  7. When the tomatoes turns a little mushy, add a tadka. For the tadka in a pan take mustard oil and add hing, coriander seeds and kasoori methi. Add the potatoes.
  8. Now add water so that the chicken boils in pressure cooker and gravy remains as per your requirement. Before closing the cooker lid add 2 tsp mustard oil from top.
  9. Garnish once the pressure is released.
