ABOUT Doi Maach RECIPE

Doi maach is a traditional dish of westBengal..it goes very well with rice, it’s one of my favourite dish very easy to prepare though I have not changed any thing because I liked it on it’s authentic way it’s been prepared ....so enjoy this authentic dish from Bengal....very simple & very tasty

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Rohu Maach 5 pieces
  2. Mustard oil 4tbsp
  3. Ghee 1 tbsp
  4. yogurt 100ml
  5. Besan 1&1/2tbsp
  6. Tej Patta 1no
  7. Cinnamon 1no
  8. Green Elaichi 2 or 3 no
  9. Cloves 4 or 5 no
  10. Salt (according to taste)
  11. Sugar half tsp
  12. onion juice 2tbsp
  13. Ginger juice 1tbsp
  14. Green chili 1 no
  15. Coriander leaves for garnishing
  16. Garam masala 1tbsp

Instructions

  1. wash the fish properly then apply some salt & keep it aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. mean while prepare the mixture of dahi. Whisk the dahi properly add besan and then whisk, add salt,onion juice, ginger juice & sugar whisk properly
  3. Heat a pan put some mustard oil heat it properly then fry the fish slightly then take it out, in the same oil add some ghee let it heat then add whole Garam masala tej pata, cinnamon,green cardamom & cloves
  4. let it splutter then add the prepared dahi mixture & allow it to boil for few minutes
  5. then add slightly fried fish to the dahi & allow it to boil add some green chilies & some salt, let it boil for few minutes then switch off the flame add garam masala & stir it then add some coriander leaves for garnish & topped it with bit of ghee & cover it
  6. Doi maach is ready to eat goes well with steamed rice
