ABOUT DAHI MURGH LABABDAR RECIPE

Try out this delicious chicken curry made with yogurt and spices.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Chicken .... 500 gms
  2. Onions ..... 2
  3. Cashew paste ... 1 tbsp
  4. Yogurt ................... 1 cup
  5. Green chillies ... 2-3
  6. Kasuri methi ... 1 tbsp
  7. Ginger paste ... 1 tbsp
  8. Garlic paste .... 1 tbsp
  9. Turmeric powder ... 1/4 tsp
  10. Coriander powder ... 1 tsp
  11. Cumin powder .... 1 tsp
  12. Garam masala powder .. 1/2 tsp
  13. Cinnamon ... 1"piece
  14. Black cardamom ... 1
  15. Bay leaves ... 2
  16. Cloves ........... 3-4
  17. Salt .............. to taste
  18. Lemon juice .. 1 tbsp
  19. Oil / Desi ghee ... 1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. Clean the chicken and marinate with salt ginger garlic paste, lemon juice and half quantity of the spice powders mentioned in the list saving the rest for later use.
  2. Boil the onion and grind it to make a paste.
  3. Soak handful of cashews and grind them to make a paste.
  4. In a pan heat half of the ghee or oil and add the mentioned whole spices.
  5. When they give out an aroma tip in the marinated chicken pieces. Saute.
  6. Simmer to cook covering the lid.
  7. Meanwhile in a separate pan heat the remaining oil or ghee and fry the onion paste. Add slit green chillies.
  8. Continue cooking until the colour changes. Add the remaining spice powders, salt, kasuri methi and cashew paste. Stir to mix.
  9. Add this onion paste to the chicken pieces. Stir carefully. Simmer until the chicken is done.
  10. Finally whisk the yogurt and stir it into the chicken. Stir carefully so that the yogurt blends uniformly into the chicken gravy.
  11. Serve with rotis or naans.
