Masala wada or Chenaga pappu garelu are a must on a rainy day. Every person would make it Atleast once whether in breakfast or at tea time. It is a traditional dish most loved and commonly made in every Andhra home.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chana dal - 200 grams
  2. Cumin - 1 tsp
  3. Cinnamon - 1 inch
  4. Red chilli - 5
  5. Coriander - 2 tbsp
  6. Onion - 2 tbsp
  7. Ginger - 1 tsp
  8. Green chillies - 4 to 5
  9. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. WASH AND SOAK 250 GRAMS CHANA DAL FOR 3 TO 4 HOURS OR OVERNIGHT
  2. STRAIN WATER AND ADD TO A MIXIE JAR
  3. ADD 1 TSP CUMIN 5 TO 6 WHOLE RED CHILLIES
  4. 2 PEICES OF CINNAMON
  5. GRIND TO A COARSE MIXTURE WITHOUT ADDING ANY WATER
  6. SCRAPE SIDES ADD TO A BOWL ADD 2 TBSP CHOPPED ONION 1 TSP CHOPPED GINGER 2 TBSP CHOPPED CORIANDER
  7. ADD 4 TO 5 CHOPPED GREEN CHILLIES
  8. ADD SALT TO TASTE
  9. MIX WELL
  10. PINCH LEMON SIZED ROUNDELS AND FLATTEN
  11. MAKE ALL SUCH WADAS
  12. DEEP FRY IN HOT OIL FEW AT A TIME. COOK ON MEDIUM FLAME
  13. NICE GOLDEN BROWNED
  14. STRAIN ON A PAPER TISSUE
