ABOUT Kakara Pitha RECIPE

One more sweet dish from Odisa. The recipe is inspired by my aunty's recipe, it comes out very nice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup grated coconut
  2. 2 cup jaggery or sugar
  3. 1 tsp cardamom powder
  4. 2 cups wheat flour
  5. a pinch of salt
  6. Oil for Deep frying

Instructions

  1. Mix grated coconut with half cup of sugar and cardamom powder and saute it on low flame till coconut is properly mixed with sugar.
  2. After sometime the coconut will turn a little golden in colour.
  3. Now boil 2 cups of water and add rest of the sugar to this for making sugar syrup.
  4. Take 1 tbsp of water and mix 1 tbsp of wheat flour to this.
  5. Add this paste to sugar syrup and stir properly.
  6. When it starts boiling add the rest of the dry flour to this, stir in low flame.
  7. Now cool the mixture down, knead it properly with oil.
  8. Make small balls and flatten it.
  9. Stuff the coconut mixture and seal the ball and again flatten it.
  10. Heat oil for deep frying the stuffed pithas (sweet dish).
  11. Fry it till it turns to golden colour.
