ABOUT Black Chana Mint Pooris RECIPE

Menthol, the active oil in Mint has antibacterial and antiseptic properties helps in digestion. I have added Soaked , cooked and coarse ground Black Chana to the flour. Chopped mint and ajwain are added in it.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Black chana soaked 1 cup.
  2. Wheat flour 1 1/2 cup.
  3. Mint leaves 20 to 25.
  4. Ginger grated 1 tsp
  5. Ajwain 1 tsp
  6. chili powder 1 tsp
  7. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  8. Cumin 1 tsp
  9. Salt to taste.
  10. Oil for Deep frying


  1. Pressure cook chana for 4 whistles. Once steam is released, coarsely grind chana
  2. Wash and chop mint leaves.
  3. Add chopped mint leaves, ground black Chana, salt, turmeric, ajwain, chili powder to wheat flour in a bowl
  4. Add ginger , crushed jeera and mix well
  5. Add 2 tbsp oil, adequate water and knead smooth dough. Rest for 10 minutes
  6. Divide dough into equal portions. Roll it out into pooris
  7. Deep fry pooris over medium heat until golden brown. Drain excess oil over kitchen towel
  8. Enjoy with Lemon pickle or a cup of tea or coffee.
